The areas near Vietri have always been rich of clay pits and as early as XII century Vietri was the heart of ceramic production. There are documents from the XV century that speak about Cassetta’s, Di Stasio’s and Gagliardi’s as master ceramists of Vietri. By that time there are votive tiles attributed to teachers mentioned. 

The production by nineteenth to today has mainly tableware and dishes for everyday use. It is characterized by the bright typical colours: ramina green, ultramarine blue, yellow, orange.

The beginning of the last century has been characterized by the influence of some Germans settled in Vietri. Many beautiful objects of artists have often remained anonymous. Today Vietri ceramics adorn the most beautiful houses in the world.
